How Kazakhstanis learn about Qurultay candidates – poll
The Institute of Eurasian Integration's sociological study revealed the top seven information sources voters use to learn about election programs, Qazinform News Agency reports.
Gulden Yemisheva, Head of the institute's Sociological Research Department, said the top sources are:
- Television (51.6%)
- Instagram (44.5%)
- News websites (32.5%)
- Family and relatives (27.4%)
- TikTok (23.8%)
- Workplace information (22.5%)
- Friends (21.7%)
As respondents could select multiple answers, the total exceeds 100%, the institute noted.
"These results show that television remains a leader in political media consumption, while Instagram and TikTok are the most popular social media platforms for election news. People also continue to learn about and discuss electoral events within their immediate daily circles," Yemisheva underscored.
The survey was conducted from July 16 to 26, 2026, using face-to-face interviews. The survey polled 4,000 respondents across 17 regions, as well as major cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent.
Earlier, Kazakhstan’s parties outlined education reform plans during televised debates.
On July 1, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev decreed that elections to the Qurultay of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held on August 23, 2026. The Central Election Commission approved the calendar plan for the preparation and conduct of the elections, as well as the list of political parties eligible to participate in the elections.
