National Emergency Medicine team arrives in Ust Kamenogorsk to assist those injured in Kazzinc blast
A team from the National Coordination Center for Emergency Medicine has arrived in Ust Kamenogorsk to provide assistance to those injured in the explosion at the Kazzinc Plant, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The group includes Chief Republican Resuscitation Specialist Bakhyt Zharkimbekov and Chief Republican Combustiologist Zhomart Zhalgaspayev. After examining the patients, the doctors held emergency consultations and outlined treatment plans.
One patient with extensive burns remains in critical condition.
“Given his extremely serious condition, intensive care is being administered. The primary objective now is to bring the patient out of burn shock within the next 72 hours,” the regional health department stated. Only after stabilization will doctors consider transferring him to Astana. A reassessment is scheduled for May 9.
Another seriously injured patient, suffering from a spinal injury, is being prepared for air ambulance transport to the neurosurgical department of the National Coordination Center for Emergency Medicine. The flight is tentatively scheduled for May 7.
As it was reported, the accident occurred on the morning of May 5. Environmental specialists have launched urgent air quality measurements.
As a result of the incident, two employees were killed and five others were injured. The explosion at Kazzinc caused a workshop collapse, with 32 people working in the affected area.
Kazzinc also announced support measures for the families of victims and those injured as a result of explosion.
