Kazakhstan accumulates 4.1mln tons of coal for heating season
Kazakhstan has accumulated 4.1 million tons of coal at its thermal power plants in preparation for the upcoming heating season, Qazinform News Agency cites Transport Ministry.
According to the Ministry, since May 1, 2026, 17.8 million tons have been delivered to thermal power plants and 1.2 million tons supplied to the communal sector.
As of now, 4.1 million tons are kept at thermal power plants and 300,000 tons for the communal sector.
To ensure steady and timely coal supplies for the upcoming heating season, Kazakhstan is developing a comprehensive action plan. Particular attention is paid to uninterrupted supply to energy and communal facilities and efficient use of railway infrastructure during peak demand.
Kaztemirtrans operates a fleet of 29,000 open wagons, sufficient to meet coal transport needs for thermal power plants, households, and industry.
The Energy Ministry launched a unified digital tracking system to monitor coal from extraction to delivery and sale in real time.

Noteworthy, Kazakhstan has coal reserves sufficient for over 300 years.
