U.S., Iranian delegations arrive in Switzerland for technical talks
Delegations from the United States and Iran, along with mediators from Qatar and Pakistan, have arrived in Burgenstock, Switzerland, for technical talks, according to a statement from the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The U.S. delegation is headed by Vice-President J.D. Vance, while the Iranian delegation is led by Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Representatives from Qatar and Pakistan are participating as mediators.
Talks between the parties are set to begin during the course of the morning, the statement said.
To note, Iran's main military command Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced Saturday the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, citing U.S. "breach" of the newly-signed peace memorandum of understanding (MoU) and Israel's ceasefire "violations" in southern Lebanon.
