Altman had been scheduled to arrive in Seoul on Sunday for a two-day program that included meetings with leading technology firms such as Samsung Electronics Co., Naver Corp., and Kakao Corp. The discussions were expected to focus on expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence.

“South Korea is a very important country and a strategic partner for OpenAI,” the company said in a statement. “Our ongoing collaborations with domestic partners will continue as planned.”

OpenAI emphasized that it hopes Altman will be able to reschedule his visit soon and meet with South Korean partners in person. The organization did not provide further details about the reason for the postponement or a revised timeline for the trip.

Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that OpenAI had confirmed confidential IPO filing with U.S. regulator.
