Nighttime illuminations begin at Kyoto’s flower temple
Mimurotoji Temple in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, renowned for its seasonal flowers, will begin special nighttime illuminations of its hydrangea garden this Saturday, Kyodo reports.
Visitors will be able to stroll among approximately 20,000 hydrangeas in full bloom, representing around 50 different varieties. The illuminations will be held on weekends only, running through June 28 from 7 pm to 9pm.

On Thursday evening, the temple conducted a trial lighting, casting a soft glow over clusters of blue, purple, and pink blossoms along its hillside grounds.
Temple officials noted that this year’s hydrangeas bloomed earlier than usual and have already reached their peak.
Earlier, it was reported that 7,000 tulips had blossomed at the Turkistan Botanical Garden.
