Kazakhstan claims four medals at Grand Slam judo tournament in Astana
Kazakh judokas won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam 2026 international tournament in Astana, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the National Olympic Committee.
Competing in the 81-kilogram weight class, Zhalgas Kairolla earned the gold medal. In the final, he defeated Moldova's Petru Pelivan by ippon, confidently dominating the decisive bout.
Ansarbek Gainullin took bronze in the 73 kg weight class, beating Vlad Mitru of Moldova in the third-place match.
As Qazinform News Agency previously reported, Talgat Orynbassar (60 kg) won silver, and Sherzod Davlatov (60 kg) secured bronze. It is worth mentioning that the international tournament was also attended by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
