Kazakhstan secures first silver medal at home Judo Grand Slam

The final block of the opening day for the 2026 Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam tournament is underway in Astana, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Kazakh National Olympic Committee.
Kazakhstan’s judoka Talgat Orynbassar took silver in the men’s -60kg final, losing to Mongolia’s Sukhbat Byambasuren, who secured an early ippon.
In the same category, Sherzod Davlatov earned a bronze medal for the national team, following teammate Magzhan Shamshadin’s withdrawal due to injury.
Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that Kazakhstani judoka Nuradil Alzhan had won bronze at the 2026 Dushanbe Grand Slam.
