France ready to support Kazakhstan in NPP construction

From December 4 to 6, a delegation of Kazakhstan led by Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev paid a working visit to the French Republic, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the ministry's press service.

The Kazakh side had a meeting with minister delegate for foreign trade and French nationals abroad, minister delegate for energy and director general for energy and climate of France.

The delegation also had talks with the top managers of Électricité de France (EDF) - the largest electricity generator and operator of nuclear power plants, Framatome - designer and manufacturer of equipment for NPPs, Arabelle Solutions – supplier of turbine equipment for nuclear power plants, as well as  Assystem - international consulting company specializing in engineering services, project management and digital solutions for complex infrastructure facilities, including nuclear power plants.

The delegation also visited the Crisis Centre of the Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) and the plant assembling equipment for NPPs.

The French side expressed readiness to support Kazakhstan in the nuclear power plant construction.

EDF was included in the shortlist of promising suppliers of nuclear technologies to Kazakhstan, along with Russia’s Rosatom, Korean KHNP and China’s CNNC.

Following October 6 referendum, 71.12% of citizens voted for the nuclear power plant construction in Kazakhstan.
