Akbikesh Tower to retain national monument status - Ministry of Culture
Conservation works will be carried out on the Akbikesh Tower, Zhanat Seydalieva, head of the Historical and Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture and Sport announced, Kazinform News Agency reports.

A special commission inspected the monument located in the Sozak district of Turkistan region.

"The most important aspect is not the damaged tower itself, but the materials used during its restoration. The historical appearance is currently being preserved. If a decision on its restoration is made, this work will be carried out by a certified company with a proper experience and qualification. As per the law, a monument loses its status as a historical and cultural value only in the event of its complete physical disappearance. Therefore, the Akbikesh Tower will retain its status as a historical and cultural monument of national significance," Seydalieva said.

According to Almas Abdiyev, Director of Kazrestavratsiya RSE, the restoration of the historical monument was carried out in accordance with a pre-developed scientific project documentation, with high-quality materials used.

The historical monument is located one kilometer west of the village of Aksumbe, on top of a hill. In 2019, it was included in the register of historical and cultural monuments of national significance. Scientific restoration works on the tower were first carried out in 2020, funded by the national budget, at the request of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, through the state-owned enterprise Kazrestavratsiya.

As it was reported, the unique Akbikesh medieval tower partially collapsed in the Turkistan region.
