BTS draws 150,000 stans to three sold-out performances in Mexico City
Global K-pop sensation BTS captivated nearly 150,000 followers during three sold-out shows in Mexico City, the group’s agency stated on Tuesday, Qazinform News Agency cites Yonhap.
Three sold-out concerts, held on May 7, 9, and 10 as part of the band’s “Arirang” world tour, marked BTS’ first solo concerts in Mexico since July 2015.
The performances highlighted Mexican culture through several standout moments. During the song “Aliens,” dancers appeared wearing traditional lucha libre masks, and member V delighted fans by holding up a banderilla snack during “Idol.” BTS also performed “Airplane pt. 2,” incorporating the lyric “We goin’ from Mexico City.”
Speaking to the crowd, the members thanked fans for their overwhelming support, saying, “You were truly the best. We will definitely come back to Mexico.”
They also addressed the audience in Spanish, adding that they would always remember the energy that filled the Zocalo square.
The group’s visit sparked massive excitement across the capital. BigHit estimated that around 50,000 admirers gathered outside the National Palace when BTS met with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Wednesday. After the meeting, the members and the President greeted followers from a palace balcony.
Crowds also packed the area around Estadio GNP Seguros during the weekend concerts, with local authorities estimating that around 35,000 people gathered outside the venue, leading to traffic restrictions in nearby areas.

The Mexico City Chamber of Commerce projected that the concerts would generate nearly 107.5 million US dollars for the economy through ticketing, transportation, hotel, and dining expenditures.
BTS will continue its world tour with upcoming performances in Stanford before heading to Las Vegas later this month.
Earlier, it was reported that BTS’ large-scale cultural program “The City” would return to Busan with the second concert marking the band’s 13th anniversary of its debut.
