As the President of Kazakhstan noted, the new legislative body is to become a shared platform for constructive views and aspirations. The Qurultay will set a high pace for the country's further modernization.

"Amid unprecedented geopolitical tensions and growing global challenges, we must firmly and consistently implement our strategy of turning Kazakhstan into a genuinely developed nation. We have tough challenges ahead to join the cohort of developed countries.

Often, the value of the most important decisions is only realized years later. This Sunday will be exactly that kind of fateful moment, when we open a new chapter in Kazakhstan's history," the Head of State said.

As written earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had addressed the nation ahead of the elections to the Qurultay.

The Qurultay elections are scheduled for August 23. According to the CEC, 12,605,788 voters have been included in the electoral rolls.

Kazakhstanis are to elect 145 Qurultay deputies for five-year terms. The CEC has registered candidate lists from seven political parties.
