Qurultay elections: CEC checks polling station readiness nationwide
Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission Chairman Nurlan Abdirov reviewed polling station preparedness for the upcoming vote, receiving reports from all regions and cities of national significance at a CEC meeting on Friday, Qazinform News Agency reports.
According to territorial election commissions, all polling stations across the country are ready to open on the Qurultay election day. Necessary conditions have also been put in place to ensure the voting rights of citizens with disabilities
Abdirov noted that while the main phase of preparation is complete, local executive bodies and territorial election commissions must finalize remaining organizational and technical matters and ensure the smooth operation of polling stations.
"The main priority now is to ensure that the extensive preparations culminate in a vote that is open, fair, and well-organized, in full compliance with the law," the CEC chairman said.
He also tasked the heads of territorial election commissions to continue monitoring the implementation of previous directives and to ensure voting procedures are carried out at a high level.
The Qurultay elections are scheduled for August 23. According to the CEC, 12,605,788 voters have been included in the electoral rolls.
Kazakhstanis are to elect 145 Qurultay deputies for five-year terms. The CEC has registered candidate lists from seven political parties.
