Kazakh students claim podium finish at Robotics Championship in Greece

Kazakhstan’s team Qazygurt from the Turkistan region secured third place at the FIRST LEGO League Open International Championship 2026 in Corinth, Greece, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Kazakh Enlightenment Ministry.

The tournament brought together young engineers from 56 countries. Kazakh schoolchildren competed against teams from the United States, Japan, Brazil, Germany, China, Spain, and Turkey. At the end of the competition, Team Qazygurt earned second place in the prestigious Champions Award category.

Arailym Bauyrzhankyzy, Yernur Abdray, Inzhu Zharkinbek, Abzal Amangeldiyev, Yerassyl Zhetpis, Nurbek Otepbergen, Yerkebulan Aibek, and Dias Kenesov represented the Kazakhstani team. They attend K. Tursynkulov Gymnasium, K. Satpayev Lyceum, and A.S. Makarenko Secondary School.

Beksultan Orazkhan, Yerbol Tastan, Nursultan Ustenov, Kaiyrken Nyshan, and Kuanysh Alimkulov mentored the team.

Team Qazygurt earned its spot in the championship after strong results at the Alem Tech Fest, which was supported by the Kazakh Enlightenment Ministry and hosted by the USTEM Foundation and the Daryn Republican Scientific and Practical Center.

The team spent nearly a year preparing for the international tournament, ultimately delivering a strong performance.
