The tenth day of the FIFA World Cup saw the Netherlands produce one of the most dominant performances of the tournament so far, while Japan secured a place in the knockout stage, Qazinform News Agency reports.

Netherlands forwards Brian Brobbey and Cody Gakpo, along with Japan striker Ayase Ueda, emerged as the standout performers of the day after each scoring twice for their respective teams.

In Group F, the Netherlands thrashed Sweden 5-1 to move into second place in the standings and significantly boost their chances of reaching the round of 32.

Later in the same group, Japan cruised to a 4-0 victory over Tunisia to secure their second consecutive win and book a place in the knockout stage. The match also marked the 1,000th game in FIFA World Cup history.

Group E began with Germany edging Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 to secure their second consecutive victory of the tournament and guarantee a place in the round of 32.

Ecuador and Curaçao then played out a goalless draw, with Curaçao earning the first World Cup point in the nation’s history.

After two rounds of matches, Japan top Group F with six points and have secured a place in the knockout stage. The Netherlands moved to four points, Sweden remained on three points, while Tunisia stayed without a point and were eliminated from the tournament.

Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that the United States secured a place in the round of 32 after defeating Australia 2-0, while Brazil claimed their first win of the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Haiti.
