Uzbekistan proceeds to development of NPP construction documentation
Director of the NPP construction directorate Otabek Amanov told about the work being conducted currently on the sidelines of the international conference held in Uzbekistan, Kazinform News Agency reports.

He told journalists that agricultural-meteorological, hydrographical, hydrogeological and seismological works are underway at the nuclear power plant construction site. Besides, a camp will be built there for NPP construction workers by the yearend. Up to 10,000 workers will live there at the height of the plant construction.

He said they started the NPP project development. “The Russian delegation is staying in Tashkent. We proceeded to explore the design specifications of the NPP project design documentation. We have also chosen institutions to develop its technical and economic feasibility study, Otabek Amanov said.
He stressed a large complex including workshops, a garage for specialized vehicles, a concrete production plant and an assembly shop will be built there for the NPP construction. He also noted they will begin developing a technical and economic feasibility study, an interim safety evaluation report, and an environmental impact assessment report this year to receive a nuclear power plant construction permit.
Otabek Amanov said Uzbekistan plans to fulfill all the IAEA requirements and obtain a permit in early 2026 for pouring the first concrete for the plant’s foundation.

At the same time, Uzbekistan is exploring the possibility of attracting international companies for the NPP construction.
As earlier reported, Uzbekistan is set to build a low-capacity nuclear power plant. Recently Uzbekistan and Russia signed a protocol on entry of an agreement on the NPP construction into force.
