UNWTO SecGen praises Almaty for development of skiing tourism
During the meeting the sides touched upon the development of mountain skiing tourism in the Almaty region.
Mayor Yessimov thanked the World Tourism Organization for arranging a conference dedicated to this topic in Almaty. "Everything that relates to tourism is of paramount important to us. The President of Kazakhstan has set the goal to develop mountain skiing tourism in our region. It means new jobs and more profit for the city's budget," he said.
Mr. Rifai, in his turn, stressed that Kazakhstan is quite perspective in terms of tourism. "The idea to develop mountain skiing in the region is well-timed. Tourism is the oil that will never run out," he noted.
Almaty will host the Eurasian conference on the development of mountain skiing resorts on October 8. Nearly 200 Kazakhstani and international experts in the field of tourism are to discuss a new skiing resort in Almaty and winter tourism in Kazakhstan.
