UNESCO to commemorate 100th anniversary of Kazakh writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev

This year will mark the 100th anniversary of Kazakh writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev. The anniversary will be celebrated under the aegis of UNESCO, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Kazakh Culture and Information Ministry.

The celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the writer, who made a great contribution to the development of Kazakh literature, started at the initiative of the Head of State at the regional centre of Almaty region. A monument honoring the writer will unveil in his native village in Narynkol. Parks, an educational establishment and a regional library will be named after the writer.

Berdibek Sokpakbayev wrote more than 20 short novels, stories and novels for children and teens.
