Two more colleges in Kazakhstan to train hydrologists and hydraulic engineers

Starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, two more colleges in Kazakhstan will begin preparing specialists for the country’s water management sector, Qazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry.

The Turmaganbetuly Mangistau Industrial-Technical College will launch programs in Technician-Hydrologist, Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, while the Temirtau Higher Polytechnic College in Karaganda region will open a program in Hydraulic Engineering Construction.

Currently, eight colleges across Kazakhstan train specialists for the water sector.

757 students are enrolled, with 208 graduates completing their studies in the 2025–2026 academic year.

Students studying there gain hands-on experience through internships at Kazvodkhoz branches.

The Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry signed memorandums with all colleges preparing water sector specialists.

To note, internship participation nearly doubled this year, reflecting growing demand.

The colleges offer training in Hydraulic engineering construction, Hydraulic land reclamation, Water supply and sewerage treatment facilities operation, and Hydrogeology.
