TURKSOY celebrates Nowruz at UNESCO HQ (PHOTO)

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - One of the most famous traditional holidays carried out by the International Organization TURKSOY became Nowruz, an important element of the cultural heritage which unites the Turkic communities.

According to the press-service of TURKSOY, the organization will celebrate Nowruz in Paris, at the headquarters of UNESCO. During her visit to the headquarters of TURKSOY, Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova signed an agreement on a joint celebration of the International Day of Nowruz at UNESCO headquarters. Following the agreement March 24 UNESCO headquarters in Paris will carry out celebration of Nowruz holiday. The event will be attended by about 100 artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Russian Federation's members including Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Altai, Tyva, Sakha (Yakutia), Khakass Autonomous Region, Dagestan, Moldova, and Mongolia. A photo exhibition of TURKSOY titled "Colors of Nowruz" will be carried out in the framework of the event. The events will be organized by TURKSOY International Organization with the assistance of the Permanent Missions of Turkic-speaking countries at UNESCO.
