Turkmenistan proposes UN to convene Forum on Security in Central Asia

ASHGABAT. KAZINFORM While speaking at the general debates of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly, Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov proposed to convene the Forum on Security and Cooperation in Central Asia under the UN auspices, the UN News Centre reported.
Meredov said that such a platform for consultations will be an effective mechanism to prevent and neutralize conflict situations and counteract new threats. "We are ready to host such a forum in Ashgabat in 2015," he said. The Central Asian countries have a long border with Afghanistan. The events are regularly held in the capitals of the region under the UN auspices in the area of strengthening the border security, Trend reports.
