Trump announces Apple-Intel partnership for U.S. based chip production

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Apple has agreed to collaborate with Intel to design and produce chips in the United States, describing the move as the latest in a series of collaborations intended to revive American semiconductor manufacturing, Qazinform News Agency cites Anadolu Agency.

Trump described Apple’s upcoming partnership with Intel as part of a sequence of US manufacturing deals, which also includes earlier agreements with Nvidia and companies associated with Elon Musk.

“Apple has agreed to work with Intel to design and build its chips in America,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

Trump stated that the US designs a large share of the technology used worldwide but needs to manufacture more of it domestically.

“We design everything, but we need to build it here, now,” the president added.

Following the news, Intel’s shares rose nearly 9% in premarket trading, while Apple climbed 0.6%.

In September, Nvidia and Intel revealed a partnership to co-develop AI infrastructure and personal computing products.

Intel has also announced a partnership with SpaceX, xAI, and Tesla to support Terafab, a semiconductor project associated with Musk.

In April, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said the company was exploring ways to improve silicon manufacturing efficiency amid a global semiconductor supply struggling to meet AI-driven demand.

Trump referred to both arrangements in his post, saying his administration “helped bring in Nvidia” and that Musk agreed to build “TerraFab” with Intel’s technology team, which he described as the largest chip factory in the world.

The president stated that Washington backed Intel in exchange for a 10% stake in the chipmaker.

Intel announced last August that the US government would invest $8.9 billion in Intel common stock, equivalent to a 9.9% stake, as part of an agreement to support domestic semiconductor manufacturing.

Trump stated that Intel was valued at around $100 billion when the government proposed its offer, and its current value exceeds $600 billion, putting the US stake at over $60 billion.

Previously, Qazinform News Agency reported that NVIDIA had introduced RTX Spark, a new computer chip designed to bring advanced AI capabilities directly to personal computers, marking a major shift in how users interact with their devices.
