Tourism is not the only sphere where Kazakhstan and Malaysia can cooperate: Almaty mayor
"Back in 1997 I visited Kazakhstan, including the city of Almaty. I am truly impressed by the pace of development of your country and the city in general," the Malaysian MP said during the meeting.
Mr. Yessimov, in turn, noted that Almaty plays a special role in the bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Malaysia. There are 18 Kazakh-Malaysian joint ventures in the city. The sales turnover between Almaty and Malaysia has totaled nearly $40 million over the last nine months of 2013, compared to $42.05 million in 2012.
"Malaysia is one of the leading Asian countries. It demonstrates its capacity not only in the field of tourism, but also in the industrial and scientific-technical sectors. For this reason, the bilateral cooperation with Malaysia is of paramount importance," he stressed.
The mayor of Almaty city concluded by saying that 'Kazakhstan and Malaysia should cooperate in the sphere of consumer goods industry and innovative technologies.'
