Tour Almaty cycling event kicks off in Almaty

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - The 2nd Tour Almaty international professional cycling event has kicked off in the city of Almaty today. Almaty mayor Akhmetzhan Yessimov attended the opening ceremony and welcomed participants of the race, Kazinform correspondent reports.
"The last year's race was successful and I hope that this time it will be even better. This year the race obtained 1.1. category," Mr. Yessimov added. The race brought together more than 20 professional cycling teams from Europe, Asia and America, namely ProTeam Astana, Katusha, Rusvelo, Team Novo Nordisk, Bardiani CSF, 10 continental and 5 national teams from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Romania and Moldova. Kazsport, Almaty and Eurosport TV channels are to air the event in Almaty.
