Kazakhstan’s Danilina advances to quarterfinals of WTA 1000 doubles tournament in Rome
Kazakhstan’s top-ranked doubles player, Anna Danilina, continues her strong performance at the WTA 1000 clay-court tournament in Rome, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
In the second-round match, the Kazakhstani player, partnering with American Asia Muhammad, secured a hard-fought comeback victory to reach the quarterfinals of the Italian Open.
The Kazakh-American duo faced Irina Khromacheva of Russia and Giuliana Olmos of Mexico. The match lasted 1 hour and 47 minutes. After losing the first set, Danilina and Muhammad managed to turn the match around and clinched victory in the decisive tie-break. The final score was 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.
During the match, Danilina and Muhammad converted three of seven break points and committed three double faults, compared to four by their opponents.
