He was born in Karaganda oblast. His father Kalmagambet was a wise man and his mother Meiiz was a sister of famous singer and composer Ukili Ybyrai. In his childhood Taizhan sang songs of Akan seri, Birzhan sal, Sharke bala, Segiz seri, Baluan Sholak. He competed in aitys with famous akyns Shegen, Bolman Kozhabayev, Imanzhan Zhylkyaidarov. In the works Taizhan followed the traditions of folk poetry, in the songs and poems he reflected new life in the Karaganda coal field, the Zhezkazgan and Karsakpai ore mines. Taizhan was a participant of the national meetings of people?s talents (1934, 1936) and the Decade of the Kazakh literature and art in Moscow (1936). T.Kalmagambetov?s songs were translated into the Russian language and published in the central newspapers. Terme and tolgau ?Dear Sergo? about Sergai Ordzhonikidze, ?Song of Taizhan? and ?To Ibrai? were saved in sound recording. Akyn Taizhan, who was named ?an enemy of the people?, was shot on September 26, 1937. In 2005 a monument to akyn was erected in Zhezkazgan. Reference: Kazakhstan, National encyclopedia, vol.5
