Snowdrops, also known as Galanthus, are blooming, pushing through snow-covered ground in the Almaty Botanical Garden, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Usually snowdrops blossom in the Botanical Garden in February or even January. But this year due to a snowy and long winter, they flowered later.
The specialists of the Botanical Garden urge all not to walk on lawns, damage, or pick these early bloomers.
Snowdrops are included in Kazakhstan's Red Book because of the decline in their natural habitats. Damaging of red-listed plants can lead to fines or even imprisonment for up to three years.
Notably, the first snowdrops blossomed in Shymkent.
