Senate ratifies deal with Uzbekistan on activities of border representatives

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan has ratified today the agreement with Uzbekistan concerning the activities of the border representatives, AKI Press reports.
Terms of the agreement read the parties must appoint border representatives and deputy border representatives, and inform each other about their activities via the sides' diplomatic channels.
The border representatives take the necessary measures to prevent and resolve border incidents within their areas of activities.
They also monitor compliance with established rules of crossing the state border and in cooperation with relevant government authorities they must undertake necessary measures to combat the smuggling of arms, ammunition, drugs, currency, and radioactive substances.
In addition, the border representatives will be involved in identification of dead human bodies and taking measures for their deliver to their homeland.
