Secretary General of OIC arrived in Almaty

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Today the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Iyad bin Amin Madani has met with students and faculty of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi.

In his speech, Iyad bin Amin Madani told about the organization's stages of formation and development, as well as about the main areas of its activity. He noted the significant contribution of Kazakhstan to the maintenance of peace and economic enhancement in Islamic countries. OIC Secretary General stressed that Al-Farabi was a renowned scientist and philosopher of the Islamic Golden Age. He was also a cosmologist, logician, and musician, representing the multidisciplinary approach of Muslim scientists. Through his commentaries and treatises, Al-Farabi became well known in the east as well in the west. Organization of Islamic Cooperation is the largest interstate association of Muslim countries which brings together 57 countries with a population of about 1.5 billion people. OIC aims at ensuring Islamic solidarity in the social, economic and political spheres.
