Radiation situation in Almaty remains stable

ALMATY. November 25. KAZINFORM - In general, the radiation situation in Almaty remains stable, and public safety is not in danger, says Sanitary-Epidemiological Service (SES) of the city.
In light of the implementing Law "On Radiation Safety" the SES of Almaty within 9 months of the current year has conducted more than 300,000 dosimetric measurements and radiological studies. Spectrometry method was used for conduct of 214 studies of food, 240 - building materials, 42 - wood products, 26 studies of air and precipitation. Radiochemical method of measurement was used to carry out 132 investigations of drinking water and 20 of food. Facts of radioactive contamination in the studied samples were not identified.
Natural gamma background in the city is from 0.14 to 0.17 microsieverts per hour. No registered radiation accidents and occupational diseases.
