President outlines his expectations from new Qurultay

President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev announced the changes he expects from Kazakhstan’s new unicameral parliament Qurultay, Qazinform News Agency reports.

He said he has consistently advocated for giving young people the opportunity to express their views and take part directly in the process of state‑building.

Speaking about the responsibilities of the deputies, the Head of State highlighted several priorities.

“I hope that, first and foremost, they will be responsible for the quality of laws. Secondly, they will oversee the implementation of promises made or programs developed. Thirdly, of course, these must be laws aimed specifically at the development of the country,” he said.

Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan faced difficult times and urged unity to build a progressive, modern state, noting that the Constitution provides ample opportunities for this.
