Pilot dies in plane-helicopter collision at Pennsylvania airport
A small plane and a state police helicopter crashed in mid-air over Carlisle Airport in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the U.S., Qazinform News Agency reports.
According to the Federal Aviation Agency, the crash involved a Cessna 150 airplane and a BELL 407 helicopter. The incident occurred at around 07:50 pm local time on Wednesday, August 19.
"Two people were on board the helicopter. The number of people on board the Cessna is unknown. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate. The NTSB will lead the investigation and provide all updates," FAA said.
The pilot of the helicopter sustained fatal injuries, while State Police Corporal Pilot Bryce Corman and Trooper Pilot Jason Mills are receiving treatment at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Governor Josh Shapiro posted on X.
"Lori and I join Pennsylvanians tonight in praying for the family of the Cessna 150 pilot who was killed, as well as Corporal Corman, Trooper Mills, and their loved ones as they begin to recover," Shapiro noted.

The helicopter was conducting a routine training exercise and had landed on the runway. The Cessna was landing after the helicopter and struck it from the rear.
