A petition has been launched in Canada demanding that Elon Musk, senior adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, be stripped of his citizenship on the grounds that he is “engaging in activities that contradict the national interests of the country.”

Thousands of Canadians have participated in the signature campaign, initiated by writer Qualia Reid and supported by New Democratic Party (NDP) MP Charlie Angus.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called for Musk, who was born in South Africa, to be stripped of his Canadian citizenship, which he holds through his mother.

The petition claims that businessman Musk “uses his wealth and power to influence Canadian elections” and is “a member of a foreign government that seeks to erase Canada’s sovereignty.”

The petition, signed by more than 50,000 people, is set to be presented to the House of Commons on June 20.

Earlier, it was reported that Elon Musk, founder of xAI, officially unveiled Grok 3 — a new flagship artificial intelligence model, claiming it to be the “smartest AI on Earth.”
