Participants of ski expedition from Kazakhstan conquer the North Pole
"Three days ago I was at the North Pole in appalling conditions, in extreme cold. I have returned to Kazakhstan. It is nice and warm here. I am very happy," said S.Bodrov. "The expedition was very difficult. We have been at the dome of the planet, in difficult conditions. We walked down the frozen ocean, leaped over cracks in ice, overcame a lot of obstacles, and stayed in tents. We had a mission - to set up on the northernmost point of Earth the flags of Kazakhstan and the People's Assembly. We manage to complete the mission," said Mr.Bodrov. The first Kazakhstan ski expedition to the North Pole started March 31. A group of 8 participants flew from Almaty to Norway and then to the island of Spitsbergen. From Spitsbergen the group flew to the base Barneo. The main part of the ski expedition to the North Pole started from the Barneo base. The expedition has been organized by the Kazakhstan Geographic Society. "One of the goals of the expedition was to study the ethnogenesis of the indigenous people of Norway. There is a hypothesis that the Norwegians have Saka roots. We held meetings in Oslo Fram Museum directly with local people and our compatriots who live in Norway. We organized the evening of Kazakhstan in the city Longir which was attended by residents of Norway, the United Kingdom and other countries. It was very interesting," said a member of the Presidium of "Kazakh Geographic Society" Tolegen Tastanbekov.
