Pakistan highlights regional cooperation during upcoming SCO chairmanship

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a high-level meeting on preparations for the country’s upcoming chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Qazinform News Agency cites Xinhua.

The meeting reviewed progress on Pakistan’s role as chair of the SCO Council of Heads of State (2026–27), with early planning already underway for hosting the leaders’ summit in 2027.

Dar instructed ministries and departments to ensure comprehensive planning across all sectors and effective coordination among agencies, timely execution of responsibilities, high standards in logistics and substantive arrangements.

He emphasized that Pakistan places strong importance on the SCO framework, noting that the chairmanship reflects the country’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation, connectivity, and multilateral engagement.
