Over 1 mln travelers visited Kazakh capital this year
1,097,413 people visited the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, in January-September this year with the most of them accounting for domestic tourists, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the city administration’s (akimat) press service.
This year the number of tourists visiting Astana jumped by 12% compared to the previous year. Out of 1,097,415 people, 261,964 or 23.9% are international tourist arrivals.
Summer is a peak season for travel in the Kazakh capital. 757,068 people visited Astana in June, 807,219 in July, and a record high of 829,627 in August.
Astana serves as a platform for large international events. This year the city played host to various international exhibitions, including Automechanika Astana 2024, Eurasian Book Fair, the Astana Half Marathon, Comic Con Astana 2024 Festival drawing the participation of renowned actor Mads Mikkelsen, the V World Nomad Games, concert of Dimash, the World Grappling Championships, etc.
Besides, 2024 was declared the Year of Kazakhstan Tourism in China. Six large events were held as part of this initiative such as the opening and closing of the Year of Kazakhstan Tourism in China, Kazakhstan-China Business Dialogue with the participation of MaFengWo, C-trip marketing companies, China’s tourist associations and tour operators, etc.
Notably, the Visit Astana brand officially joined the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) which unites over 240 tourism companies from around the world.
