No damage to roads and bridges as tremors felt across Kazakhstan – KazAvtoZhol

KazAvtoZhol has inspected the roads of republican significance in Almaty, Zhambyl , and Zhetysu regions as a series of quakes hit near Almaty on the Kyrgyz-China border earlier this morning, Kazinform News Agency cites the company’s press service.
As reported earlier, the 5-magnitude quake was felt near Almaty, injuring eight people, overnight. A 2-magnitude quake was felt in another Kazakh city – Shymkent.
Tremors were also felt in Astana city as well as Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Karaganda, and Zhetysu regions.
Following the reports, KazAvtoZhol employees inspected republican roads and bridges. No damages and defects were revealed, said the company’s press service.
