Nazarbayev deserves Nobel Peace Prize for contribution to global nuclear disarmament - Expert of China

Speaking on the topic "Kazakhstan is an active participant and supporter of development of non-proliferation regime," Feng Yujun spoke about important role of Kazakhstan in the sphere of global disarmament. Kazakhstan at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union was the fourth country inamount of nuclear warheads, but voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons and shut down the Semipalatinsk test site.

"The decision to close the Semipalatinsk test site on 29 August 1991, a further renunciation of nuclear arsenal and the new initiatives of Kazakhstan in this area have received recognition and respect of the world community", says the Chinese expert.

"The key to this process is the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For contribution to global nuclear disarmament Nursultan Nazarbayev deserves the Nobel Peace Prize " states Feng Yujun.

Chinese expert emphasizes the special role of Kazakhstan in creation of a nuclear-free zone in Central Asia, and also notes that the Chinese side supports the initiative of the Kazakh government to place a nuclear fuel bank on its territory .

It should be recalled that on Wednesday in Beijing there has been conducted a "round table" on "Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy and the Kazakh-Chinese relations", organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to China and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
