The event will bring together more than 1,300 top athletes from 43 Asian countries to compete in three disciplines — poomsae, sparring, and para taekwondo.

The tournament will also serve as a qualification event for the 20th Asian Summer Games, to be held in Nagoya, Japan. For the first time, athletes finishing in the top seven of each weight category will earn qualification spots for the Asian Games.

World Taekwondo President Choue Chung-won is expected to attend the championships. The opening ceremony will feature a full demonstration team that received the Golden Buzzer award on the television show America's Got Talent, showcasing taekwondo artistry and athleticism.

The championships will feature the 9th poomsae competition, 27th sparring tournament, and 11th para taekwondo championship and will run for one week.

Held every two years, the Asian Championships are considered one of the continent’s most important taekwondo events, awarding the highest Olympic ranking points in Asia.

Premier Sports Network will broadcast live the championships.

Mongolian athletes claimed 23 medals at the Senior Asian Taekwondo Championships.

Earlier, Kazakh judoka Aidar Arapov won a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Judo Championships in Ordos city, China.
