Minor fire on Turkish Airlines jet forces brief closure of Kathmandu Airport
A tyre on a Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 caught fire after landing in Kathmandu on Monday, prompting authorities to close the airport for about an hour, WAM reported.
All 277 passengers and 11 crew arriving from Istanbul were safely evacuated via emergency exits, and no injuries were reported, said Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal spokesperson Gyanendra Bhul.
Turkish Airlines: Airbus A330 aircraft, registration TC‑JNP, operating flight TK726 from Istanbul to Kathmandu, landed normally at Tribhuvan International Airport, before smoke was seen from the landing gear while taxiing.
