Majilis to debate agreement between Kazakhstan and UAE on renewable energy

The Kazakh Majilis proceeded to the draft law “On ratification of the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and United Arab Emirates on the development the wind power plant project”, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to chairman of the ecology and nature management committee Yedil Zhanbyrshin, the agreement was signed by the Governments of Kazakhstan and the UAE on December 2, 2023.

The goal of the agreement is to promote cooperation between the two nations to combat global climate change through the development of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan and build a wind power plant in Zhambyl region. Two large projects will be implemented under the agreement.

He added some 100 permanent and 1,600 temporary jobs will be generated during the project development.

As stated there, the committee is ready to give its opinion on the draft law.

Earlier, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan making changes and additions to some legislative acts to promote the use of renewable energy sources and electricity.
