Kazzinc blast put under PM’s personal control
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has taken personal control of the situation following the explosion at the Kazzinc plant in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Qazinform News Agency reports.
Bektenov said he had already issued instructions to relevant authorities in response to the incident.
“First of all, this morning I gave the necessary orders regarding the explosion in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The Ministry of Emergency Situations, environmental departments, and regional akimats must take all required measures and report back to me. This issue will remain under my personal control,” the Prime Minister stated before opening a government meeting.
Earlier, an explosion occurred at the Kazzinc plant, followed by a fire and partial structural collapse.
Nine people were reported injured in the incident, three of them in serious condition.
Environmental specialists are currently conducting urgent air quality monitoring after the explosion.
