Kazakhstan to purchase over 2,000 freight cars
Deputy Chairman of the Railway and Water Transport Committee Nurzhan Kelbuganov revealed that Kazakhstan has over 300 freight car operators and 140,000 freight cars currently registered at the Wednesday press briefing of the Central Communications Service, Kazinform News Agency reports.

"Last year, we added 2,350 more freight cars to our fleet. This year, we aim to purchase a similar number, ensuring Kazakhstan has a sufficient supply of freight cars," Nurzhan Kelbuganov noted.
According to the Committee, Kazakhstan currently has about 1,800 locomotives in operation, with a 61% depreciation rate. The country purchased 185 locomotives last year, and this year’s goal is to acquire 200 more.
The Ministry of Transport expects that it will allow to reduce locomotive wear and tear by 47%, increase the number of modernized locomotives, and help meet the growing demand for locomotives.
As reported earlier, Kazakhstan and China are to increase railroad freight volume.
