"Kazakhstan's expenditures on science have more than doubled over the past couple of years - from KZT 20 billion in 2010 to KZT 53 billion in 2013. In line with the Kazakhstan-2050 Development Strategy, we are planning to raise expenditures on science by 3% of GDP gradually," Minister Sarinzhipov said at a session dedicated to the development of science in Almaty. The minister noted that local research institutes and higher education institutions need modern equipment. "To this end, we need to attract more investments from private sector to science. Inflow of direct foreign investments into Kazakhstani science increased more than twofold in 2013, compared to 2012 figures," he added.
