Kazakhstan to establish expert council on tariffs evaluation

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Majilis, lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, has approved in the first reading the draft law "On amendments to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the issues of natural monopolies and regulated markets" today.
"The draft law is called to enhance transparency and day-to-day functioning of subjects of natural monopolies, improve tariff procedures and protect consumers' rights," said Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Dossayev introducing the bill to lawmakers. In his words, the bill envisages the establishment of the expert council to make the tariff setting process and functioning of monopolists more transparent. During the discussion of the draft law members of the chamber suggested a number of amendments.
