Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek announced this at the National Think Tank Forum "Projection of the Future: From Assessing Results to a New Agenda" in Astana.

According to the minister, the Government had already doubled doctoral stipends once before.

"Presently, a PhD stipend amounts to 252,000 tenge per month. We plan to double it again over the next three to four years," Sayasat Nurbek said.

The minister also reminded attendees of the launch of Kazakhstan's Industrial PhD program. Now, young researchers can earn a PhD in a streamlined format within three years without leaving their jobs.

Earlier, Qazinform reported that the Government will allocate 89,457 state scholarship grants for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year.
