The Regional Center is called to strengthen regional coordination on SDG implementation, enhance technical assistance, knowledge exchange, and analytical support.

Agreements define the Center’s legal status, operations in Kazakhstan, staff arrangements, and cooperation mechanisms with national authorities, as well as the financial and organizational basis for cooperation between the Kazakh Government and UN.

The document aims to establish a legal foundation for joint programs on sustainable development, climate resilience, inclusive economic growth, social policy, and humanitarian cooperation tailored to regional needs.

From 2025 to 2029, Kazakhstan will allocate 3 million US dollars per year to support the Center’s annual work program.

The memorandum provides for defining the status of the Regional Center and a framework for financial and organizational cooperation between the Kazakh Government and UN.

Two bodies will be created at the Center, namely an Advisory Council to recommend annual programs and budgets and an International Advisory Committee to provide strategic guidance on regional priorities.
