At the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan ranked ninth in the world. During that period, head coach Ricardo Camara Sobral (Cacau) returned to lead the national team, replacing Paulo Ricardo Figueroa Silva, better known as Kaka.

In FIFA’s updated May rankings, Kazakhstan moved up to eighth place with 1403.8 points. The team overtook Ukraine by more than two points after Ukraine dropped to ninth place. Kazakhstan is now 27 points behind Russia, which is ranked seventh and has been suspended from international competitions since 2022.

Kazakhstan achieved this result despite failing to qualify for the final stage of UEFA Futsal Euro 2026. The national team has continued to strengthen its international standing through friendly matches and consistent performances in qualification campaigns.

Earlier, it was reported that two Kazakh teams had appeared in UEFA’s top 10 futsal clubs, with Almaty’s Kairat ranked third, behind Spain’s Palma and Portugal’s Sporting, and Semey ranked tenth in the latest UEFA ranking.
