Kazakhstan and Nigeria pledge to strengthen cooperation
Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Algeria, Anuarbek Akhmetov, met with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dunoma Umar Ahmed, during his visit to Algeria, Qazinform News Agency cites the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
The Ambassador briefed his counterpart on the political and socio-economic reforms underway in Kazakhstan at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He also informed him about the entry into force of the new Constitution and the upcoming elections to the Qurultay (Parliament).
The Kazakh President's initiative to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the United Nations was also presented. The Permanent Secretary highly appreciated the initiative's relevance, noting that ensuring water security is a global challenge requiring the joint efforts of all nations.
The parties also discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan-Nigeria cooperation, exchanging views on the further development of political dialogue, the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, and the enhancement of the bilateral legal framework.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening cooperation within international organizations and maintaining regular contacts between the embassies and the foreign ministries of the two countries.
Earlier, Kazakhstan and the UAE discussed global water cooperation ahead of the UN Water Conference.
