Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy is key to our future, says Almaty mayor

ALMATY. January 21. KAZINFORM The key theses highlighted by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in his recent State-of-the-Nation Address "Kazakhstan's way-2050: Common goal, common interests, common future" are the follow-up of the proposals put forward in the Kazakhstan-2050 Development Strategy, mayor of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov believes.

"I will have a hard time arguing with majority of experts that this year's presidential address is a detailed guide for us on how to achieve prosperity and tasks set by President Nazarbayev. It is no stretch to say that long-term strategic planning has become the reason behind economically and politically successful Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan's way-2050 is our key to further growth and accession to the club of the world's 30 most developed countries," Mr. Yessimov noted. "For that to happen the document offers seven key directions of further development."

In his words, Almaty, as one of the largest cities in Kazakhstan, will play the major role in that process.

"Over the years of independence, Almaty has become the intellectual, financial and research center of the country and the Central Asian region on the whole. Along with the Kazakh capital - Astana, it will become the first urban center of Kazakhstan," the mayor stressed.
